June 6, 2010 (Washington Bangla Radio) Lamhaa is a forthcoming Indian Bollywood Hindi film based on terrorism in Kashmir. Bollywood hero Sanjay Dutt plays a veteran cop and Bipasha Basu, Anupam Kher, Kunal Kapoor and other actors play pivotal roles in the movie. Lamhaa is produced by Bunty Walia and Jaspreet Walia and directed by Rahul Dholakia.

In the theatrical teaser-trailer released online, Lamhaa looks worthy of the anticipation it has caused in Indian film-lovers. The trailer opens with a shot of a Muslim Mosque and hundreds of Muslims in their prayer ritual, followed by to a jarringly different scene with Sanjay Dutt on a speed-boat. Terrorists ride motorbikes, and the beautiful Bipasha Basu with her head covered (she, thus, plays a Muslim woman) has her picture shot, followed by a gunshot aimed to an unknown victim. Mass demonstrations by Muslims is then shown, and Indian law-enforcement trying to bring law and order back. Bipasha runs through narrow alleys, more gunshots are fired. Bomb blasts take down buildings, and what looks like a terrorist mastermind in jail is shown very close to a shot in New Delhi.
It’s a challenging career in her filmdom life for Bipasu Basu, who has to enact a role of a Kashmiri girl in a film titled ‘Lamhaa’. For this movie she has to change her anglicized-Bengali accent to look like a kashmiri girl for this movie. This movie is directed by Rahul Dholakia.
It’s not easier for her to perform, as she was forbidden from dubbing her voice for a movie Charitra Kalpunik in which she portrayed herself as a Bengali girl, though her mother tongue is Bengali. But this time has taken this as a challenge to prove her talents and dubbing her own voice with the help of sound recorder Manoj Sikka. Seeing her dedication the director Rahul Dholakia has never failed to appreciate her work. As per Bipasu it’s a tough work that she is doing, but at the same time she has never pretended herself from any new experiments, that too with a cool and a patient director Rahul Dholakia.
The sound recorder in turn has done a splendid work in bringing out the voice of Bipasu as an exact Kashmiri girl. This film revolves around the series and sensitive issues of Kashmiri people and Kashmir militancy the director is pretty adamant on getting every nuance right. The film interestingly has Sanjay Dutt in an important role in the movie apart from Bipasha Basu and Kunal Kapoor.
